At Omaha Public Schools Foundation, we are committed to advancing Omaha Public Schools' efforts to improve early literacy and create lasting opportunities for students. Literacy is the foundation of learning, and we believe that strong school libraries and skilled librarians play a pivotal role in shaping successful readers and lifelong learners.
OPS has set an ambitious goal to increase the number of kindergarten through third-grade students reading on grade level by 4% annually, as measured by standardized district assessments. This effort is critical to ensuring that every child has the tools they need to thrive academically and beyond.
To support this mission, the Omaha Public Schools Foundation is proud to partner with OPS librarians. By providing grants for student learning materials, we aim to empower librarians to enrich their collections, create engaging literacy experiences, and inspire young readers. These resources are designed to spark curiosity, foster a love for reading, and directly contribute to the district's literacy goals.
Together, we can support OPS librarians in their vital work, advance early literacy, and make a meaningful impact on the future of Omaha Public Schools students.
