Purpose
The Tenaska Powering Skilled Careers Scholarship supports graduating seniors who plan to pursue education or training for a skilled career in the energy industry or a related field.
Eligible areas of study may include, but are not limited to, electrical technology, welding, instrumentation and controls, industrial maintenance, mechanical technology, power generation, utility operations, HVAC, and other skilled trades that support the energy sector.
The scholarship is intended to encourage students to pursue rewarding, in-demand careers that play an essential role in powering communities and supporting the energy industry.
Award Amount & Payment
$5,000 one-time scholarship payable directly to the recipient’s accredited vocational, trade, technical school, community college, or other eligible post-secondary program.
The recipient must provide verification of enrollment to the applicable foundation before payment is made directly to the school or eligible post-secondary program.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
Be a graduating senior from an eligible Omaha Public Schools (OPS) high school.
Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Plan to pursue post-secondary education or training leading to a skilled career in the energy industry or a related field.
Plan to attend an accredited vocational school, trade school, technical school, community college, or other eligible post-secondary program.
Complete the online OPSF scholarship application.
Selection Criteria
Among eligible applicants, the scholarship review committee will consider:
Academic achievement, including cumulative GPA.
Educational and career goals related to a skilled career in the energy industry or a related field. 3. The applicant’s demonstrated interest in developing the skills, knowledge, and experience necessary to pursue those goals.
Selection Procedure
Final recipients will be selected by a scholarship review committee designated by Tenaska based on the eligibility and selection criteria outlined above.
One scholarship will be awarded annually to a student graduating from an Omaha Public High School..
