Purpose: To provide financial assistance in memory of Phyllis Beam to a former Springville Elementary student seeking post-secondary education in the field of education.
Mrs. Phyllis Beam was a former teacher and principal with over 46 years in education. She was the principal of Springville Elementary for over 27 years. She retired as principal in 1991.
Deadline: March 2, 2026
Amount: $1500.00
Eligible School/s: All OPS High Schools
Selection Criteria:
- Students must have attended Springville Elementary for a minimum of 3 years
- Students must demonstrate financial need by submitting a FAFSA form;
- Students must submit a recent transcript showing a minimum grade point average of 3.0
- Students must be seeking or interested in majoring in the field of Education;
- Students must submit an essay: “Include important things you would want us to know about you and why you want to further your education. Describe a meaningful time/experience in your life that has shaped who you are today.”
- Students must submit a reference from a teacher or coach.
Selection Process:
Selection will be made by the family of Mrs. Phyllis Beam. The award will be payable to the college or university of the recipient’s choice upon receipt of enrollment verification.
The recipient will be awarded at the school’s Honors Night in the Spring.
