Yano Jones was a 1995 Omaha Northwest graduate. Yano's life was one of service, love, and inspiration. As a devoted husband, father, educator and coach, he made a difference wherever he went. He guided countless students to believe in themselves, reach for their dreams, and trust in their potential. Yano's warmth, spirit, and faith touched everyone who knew him. This scholarship celebrates his legacy by helping Northwest seniors pursue their own path with the same passion and purpose he lived by.
Purpose:
To provide financial assistance to a Northwest Omaha Public School Graduate seeking post-secondary education. The scholarship can be used at any postsecondary institution or trade school.
Amount:$1000.00
Eligible Graduating School: Northwest High School
Selection Criteria:
- Applicant must have a GPA of 2.0 or above.
- Submit essays to answer the following questions:
- What are your future goals? Why is a postsecondary education or career in the trades important to you?
- What are some of your key leadership skills and/or characteristics, and how have you used them to solve problems, achieve results, and/or guide others?
- Applicant must submit a reference letter.
- Applicant must submit a transcript.
Selection Process:
Selection will be made by the Northwest High Scholarship Committee. The award will be payable to the college, university or trade school of the recipient’s choice upon receipt of enrollment verification.
Recipient will be awarded at the school’s Honors Night in the Spring.
