
Purpose:
To provide financial assistance to a student seeking post-secondary education in the memory of Angela G. Falcon, and Omaha Public Schools former honor student, who died of epilepsy on October 25, 1980. Preference will be given to a student who intends to declare a major in Music/Drama or Nursing.
Eligible School: Omaha South High School
Selection Criteria:
- Recipient must demonstrate financial need;
- Recipient must be academically able to succeed in college;
- Recipient must choose a major that reflects either Music/Drama OR Nursing;
- Applicant should submit a one-page essay on their experience at South and why they intend to pursue one of the specified careers. The family would like to receive a copy of the student’s transcript and a copy of the essay after the recipient has been selected.
Selection Process:
Selection will be made by the South High School Scholarship Committee, with input from the Music/Drama specialist or the Science curriculum specialist. Award will be payable to the college or university upon the Omaha Public Schools Foundation’s receipt of verification of enrollment from the institution chosen by the recipient.
Amount: $1000.00
Scholarship is renewable for a second year if the recipient has maintained a GPA of 3.0 or better. Transcripts must be sent to the Omaha Public Schools Foundation for verification. toba.cohendunning@ops.org
