Tenaska Diversity Scholarship

Purpose:
This scholarship is awarded to a senior who is a minority and will attend an accredited college or university to pursue a four-year degree related to Tenaska business initiatives: Business, Finance, Engineering, Human Resources, Public Relations, Accounting, etc.

The recipient must maintain a GPA of 3.2 to qualify for the $2,500 annually renewable scholarship over four years ($10,000).

Amount:
$2,500 annual renewable scholarship payable to each of the student’s chosen school over four years. Verification of enrollment should be sent directly to the Omaha Public Schools Foundation for payment directly to the school.

Eligible Recipients:
Graduating senior and OPS student who is a minority and has a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 and maintains that throughout school.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Has a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.2 (GPA) on a 4.0 scale.
  2. Students must submit an unofficial transcript.
  3. Be a graduating senior from any OPS High School.
  4. Must be a minority.
  5. Plan to attend an accredited college or university to pursue a four-year degree related to Tenaska business initiatives: Business, Finance, Engineering, Human Resources, Public Relations, Accounting, etc.
  6. Submit a short essay to: “Tell us about yourself. In your response, include important things you would want us to know about you and discuss a meaningful time/experience in your life that has shaped who you are.”
  7. Submit a short essay on the topic: “What is unique about you?”
  8. Students must include a resume listing activities, volunteer and job experiences.

Selection Procedure:
Final recipients will be chosen by the appointed scholarship review committee.

Should you be selected for this award, please send verification of your enrollment at the school of your choice and a “Thank You” note directed to the donor to Omaha Public Schools Foundation. The award will be forwarded to the school.
