Purpose:
Memorial Scholarship honoring Kevin Vann who grew up under difficult circumstances in Baltimore, Maryland and taught in the Omaha Public Schools.
He became the first member of his family to attend college by earning a basketball scholarship to Towson State University. He then joined the Army and moved through the ranks at an unprecedented rate earning countless honors, commemorations and medals along the way.
As a retired First Sargent in the US Army, he started his teaching career at Omaha Northwest in 1998. He was the JROTC instructor, head boys and girls tennis coach and assistant varsity boys coach. After a couple of years at Northwest, he took over the girls basketball program.
