Purpose:
This scholarship is awarded annually to remember John Paul Gustafson, an Omaha North High and Academy of Finance graduate. This scholarship will be awarded based upon the essays, GPA and academic achievements, contributions to the school and community, order and neatness of the application, and extracurricular activities. Financial need may also be considered when information is provided.
John Paul Gustafsonās family would like to thank the many generous families and individuals who knew John and contributed personally to the creation of the scholarship. We would like to thank the Citigroup Foundation because a significant portion of this scholarship was funded with the remaining scholarship money John was unable to use from the four-year Citigroup Academy of Finance (AOF) Scholarship he was awarded in 2003. And thank you to the Omaha Schools Foundation, for administering this scholarship, which works to help Omaha Public Schools students to succeed.

Amount:
The winner will receive $1,000 mailed directly to their college or university such college expenses. The winner will receive $1,000 mailed directly to their college or university.
Selection Criteria:
The student awarded this scholarship must:
- Successfully complete AP Environmental Science OR Honors Personal Finance
- Unofficial Transcript
- Graduate from Omaha North High School
- Attend a four-year accredited college or university
- Essay One: Answer one of these two questions:
If you were to start your own business, what would it be and why would it be profitable?
If you were to work to solve one environmental issue, what would it be and how would you try to solve it? - Essay Two: What are your goals? Why are these your goals?

- Resume: Use your resume from other applications, however, we generally expect information like ACT/SAT scores, Accomplishments, Community Activities, Sports, Leadership Positions, Awards, Honors, Employment, Interests, etc.)
Selection:
The Selection Committee who evaluates applications is comprised of individuals who knew John.
In addition to Omaha North senior class applications, college freshman, sophomores, and juniors who previously won the scholarship may submit a recent transcript from their college or university to be considered in the applicant pool. For those already in college, the original application completed during their senior year at North, plus the updated transcript, will be used to compare applications.
