Westview High School JROTC

Purpose:

To provide a scholarship to a graduating Westview  High school senior JROTC Cadet planning to attend an accredited four-year school of higher learning or 2 year community college in Nebraska commencing in the summer or fall term following graduation. 

Amount:

One  $500 scholarship

Eligible Recipients:

Graduating seniors from Westview High School  who have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Based equally on scholastic ability and financial need.
  2. Submit an unofficial high school transcript showing a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  3. Submit two letters of recommendation from a teacher and/or administrator.
  4. Submit a short essay (maximum of 500 words) which includes their chosen area of study and describes why they want to pursue that career. Ensure the essay has Westview High School JROTC name, address and phone number.
  5. Submit a resume that lists their high school activities as well as any volunteer and job experiences and any other information that could be relevant to the selection process.
  6. All required transcripts, letters of recommendation and essay will be submitted online at https://opsf.eformsolutions.com/

Selection Procedure:

Final recipients will be chosen by the Westview JROTC Scholarship Committee    comprised of teachers, counselors, and administrators from the school).  Should you be selected for this award, please send verification of your enrollment at the college or university of your choice and a “Thank You” note directed to the donor, Omaha Public Schools Foundation and Westview JROTC. A check in the amount of the scholarship will be sent directly to the school upon receipt of verification of enrollment .
