Jason Combes (Class of 2010) Annual Omaha North High Scholarship
Purpose:
To provide a scholarship to a graduating Omaha North High school senior planning to attend an accredited four-year school of higher learning in Nebraska commencing in the summer or fall term following graduation.
Amount:
One renewable $3,000 scholarship,
Eligible Recipients:
Graduating seniors from Omaha North High and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.
Selection Criteria:
- Based equally on scholastic ability and financial need.
- Preference given to Engineering/Architecture career/major.
- Student Athlete, preference given to a baseball player.
- Submit an unofficial high school transcript showing a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher and/or administrator.
- Submit a short essay (maximum of 500 words) which includes their chosen area of study and describes why they want to pursue that career, lists their high school activities as well as any volunteer and job experiences and any other information that could be relevant to the selection process.
Selection Procedure:
Final recipients will be chosen by the Omaha North High School Committee (made up of teachers, counselors, and administrators from the school). Should you be selected for this award, please send verification of your enrollment at the college or university of your choice and a “Thank You” note directed to the donor to Omaha Public Schools Foundation. The award will be forwarded to the college of choice upon receipt.
Scholarship Renewal:
The scholarship is renewable for three additional years based on a minimum grade point average of 3.0 and continuation of pursuit of the recipient’s initially chosen major or such other major as may be approved by the donors. Current transcripts must be sent to the Omaha Schools Foundation for subsequent payments each year.
