Purpose:
To provide financial assistance to a student seeking post-secondary education in the fields of engineering, education or medicine.
Amount:
One renewable $2,000 scholarship.

Omaha South High School
Selection Criteria:
Based equally upon scholastic ability and financial need.
Preference will be given to students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering, education or a medical field (including pre-medicine and pre-veterinarian) at a four-year accredited post-secondary institution in Nebraska.
Application:
Applicants should (i) be a graduating high school senior planning to attend an accredited four-year school of higher learning in Nebraska commencing in the summer or fall term following graduation, (ii) submit an unofficial high school transcript showing a GPA of 2.5 or higher, (iii) submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher and/or administrator and (iv) specify the applicant’s chosen major.
Applicants should submit a short (maximum 500 words) essay which (i) includes a brief description of the applicant’s family, (ii) specifies their chosen area of study and describes why they want to pursue that career, (iii) lists their high school activities as well as any volunteer and job experiences and (iv) any other information which could be relevant to the selection process.
Selection Process:
The principal and scholarship committee of Omaha South High School will recommend the top qualifying student for this scholarship from that high school. Recommendations will be sent to the Omaha Public Schools Foundation, which will forward a copy to the donors. The donors may wish to meet with the scholarship recipient.
Scholarship Recipient:
Should you be selected for this award, please send verification of your enrollment at the college or university of your choice and a “Thank You” note directed to the donors to Omaha Public Schools Foundation. The award will be forwarded to the college of choice upon receipt.
Scholarship Renewal:
The scholarship is renewable for three additional years contingent upon maintaining a minimum grade point average of 2.8 and continuation of pursuit of the recipient’s initially chosen major or such other major as may be approved by the donors. Current transcripts must be sent to the Omaha Schools Foundation for subsequent payments each year.
